The Sturmhaubitze 42 Ausf. G (German armory designation: Sd.Kfz. 142/2) is a German Grade II tank destroyer with a battle rating of 3.0 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced in the 1.49 “Weapons of Victory” update.

Even though the StuH 42 looks a lot like the StuG III G, its playing style is very, very different. While the later StuGs (Ausf. F – G) are more effective in medium and long range combat, StuH is much better suited to medium and very close range (mainly in RB).

The reason is its cannon: it is equipped with a large 10.5 cm howitzer, hence the abbreviation StuH – Sturm Haubitze. The speed of the projectiles is slower than that of StuGs, but they can cause crippling damage with a single shot. Due to the low muzzle velocity, projectiles often fail to hit moving tanks, often requiring them to get closer to opponents. Fortunately, the StuH frontal armor is reasonably good, being mostly 80mm with several 30mm thick weak spots, and the good mobility of the Panzer III chassis now becomes even more useful.
